Microsoft shares rose more than 5% on Tuesday after the company announced a new AI subscription service for Microsoft 365 that will charge users an extra $30 a month to use generative artificial intelligence with tools like Teams, Excel and Word.

Adding a subscription to Copilot, the generative AI assistant that runs in Microsoft 365 apps, should reportedly cost enterprise users an extra 50% or more per month. Copilot’s capabilities reportedly include summarizing meetings, analyzing spreadsheet data, and developing presentations, but the tool is currently in early testing and not yet available to the public.
