Trump Jabs Biden with ‘Great Job Joe’ After Vice President Gaffe, Biden Responds
A war of words erupted between US President Joe Biden and his Republican rival Donald Trump after Biden mistakenly referred to Vice President Kamala Harris as “Vice President Trump” in a recent gaffe.
Former President Trump seized the opportunity to mock Biden for the blunder during a press conference at a NATO event, dubbing him “Crooked Joe” and “Big Boy.”
“Crooked Joe begins his ‘Big Boy’ Press Conference with, ‘I wouldn’t have picked Vice President Trump to be vice president, though I think she was not qualified to be president.’ Great job, Joe!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
Biden, under increasing scrutiny over his age and mental acuity following a shaky performance at last month’s presidential debate with Trump, fired back, asserting his awareness of the mix-up. “By the way: Yes, I know the difference. One’s a prosecutor, and the other’s a felon,” Biden tweeted, alluding to Trump’s conviction in a hush money case involving porn star Stormy Daniels.
Earlier on Thursday, Biden made another verbal slip during the same press conference, mistakenly referring to his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, as “President Putin.” While introducing the “Ukraine Compact,” a new initiative to bolster aid to Ukraine in its ongoing war with Russia, Biden invited Zelenskyy to speak but made the gaffe.
“I want to hand it over to the President of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination. Please welcome President Putin,” Biden said. The 81-year-old Democrat began to walk offstage before realizing his mistake and returning to correct himself, adding, “Zelenskyy is going to beat President Putin.”
Zelenskyy appeared to take the error in stride, responding with a lighthearted comment: “I’m better.”
These latest verbal missteps have fueled calls from a growing number of Democrats for Biden to withdraw from the re-election campaign. Even actor George Clooney, a significant fundraiser for Democrats, has urged the President to step down from the race.
Despite the mounting pressure, Biden has consistently refused to end his re-election bid, asserting that he remains the best candidate to defeat Trump in the upcoming November 5 election.
