HUSTON – The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says a man accused of killing his wife died early Saturday after being found unanswered in Houston County Jail.

39-year-old Benjamin Pierce of Katie was found in solitary confinement shortly before 4:30 a.m. Saturday and was pronounced dead about an hour later in hospital, the sheriff’s office said.

The body was sent for examination to determine the cause of death.

Pierce was arrested and charged with the murder on Friday of the death of his wife Leslie Pierce, 41.

The sheriff’s office said his home office and Houston police were investigating the death.
