Federal securities regulators are figuring out how Amazon.com Company Inc. has revealed some details of its business practices, including how it uses third-party vendor data for its private label, according to people familiar with the matter.

The Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating how the technology giant – the U.S.’s largest e-commerce retailer and cloud computing company – is handling disclosures about its employees using data from vendors on its e-commerce platform. The SEC’s Enforcement and Control Division requested emails and messages from several seniors Amazon executives, according to one of the people.
