Sarah Jessica Parker was spotted out and about in New York City on Thursday afternoon for the first time since she revealed that her stepfather had passed away.
“Our family is saddened to announce that after an unexpected and sudden illness, Paul Giffin Forste passed away yesterday at the age of 76,” Parker’s family said in a statement to Page Six earlier Thursday.
The Just Like That star, 57, was dressed casually as she stepped out of her West Village home and blocked out the outside sound with a pair of oversized Apple AirPods Max headphones.

Sarah looked somber as she strolled down the street, keeping her eyes on the pavement.
She prioritized comfort over her usual sense of style in a cozy charcoal sweater with slightly rolled up sleeves.
The film, TV and theater star teamed her top with pale gray sweatpants and simple black and beige heels.
Her blonde hair was tied back in a tight bun and she opted for minimal make-up, covered up with a pair of dark black sunglasses.

She seemed to be carrying some things with her as she had a large black backpack in addition to her smaller bag.
Her family said in a statement that her stepfather, Paul, “was surrounded by the love and gratitude of his beloved wife of 54 years, Barbara, and his children, including Sarah Jessica Parker.”
“Paul will be remembered for the spirit of loving kindness that was his faith, his special fondness for his 13 grandchildren, and his steadfast belief in making the world a more charitable, tolerant and beautiful place for all,” they concluded.
SJP’s mom, Barbara Parker, divorced her father, Steven Parker, when she was just three years old, and soon remarried to Forste, who worked as a truck driver and account executive.
Force’s death came shortly before the actress was scheduled to be honored for “her vision and leadership” at the New York City Ballet’s 2022 Fall Gala at Lincoln Center on Wednesday night.
However, she opted out of the event and never attended, a spokesperson shared with DailyMail.com

Sarah was also forced to cancel a virtual press conference for her new film, Focus Pocus 2, which was due to be broadcast worldwide.
During the gala ballet, it was announced on stage that she was unable to attend due to a “sudden disruptive family situation”.
Sarah is the chair of the New York City Ballet’s board of directors and was instrumental in planning this year’s gala, Page Six reports.
Stepfather Parker’s death comes a day after she attended the New York premiere of Focus Pocus 2 with her husband Matthew Broderick and twin daughters Tabitha and Marion, 13, for a rare appearance.
She’s generally tight-lipped about her family life and the 13-year-old has largely stayed out of the picture, but she previously revealed they’re big fans of the franchise on Halloween, so they may have decided to attend the event with their mother .

“They started watching this movie, I would say about three years ago,” she told People earlier this year.
“They were so excited to meet Beth [Midler] and Kathy [Najimy]. Loretta kept asking me, “But wait, are we going to meet them like this? [their characters] Vinnie and Mary? Or are we going to meet them like Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy?”
One of the twins wore a sparkling silver dress on the red carpet, while the other stunned in a black dress with puffy sleeves.
They posed alongside their mum, who wore a white and purple floral kimono-style top, pink trousers and matching heels, and their dad, who looked dapper in a sharp gray suit.
