WILEY, TX (CBSDFW.COM) – The death of a Wylie ISD teacher has been ruled a murder-suicide, according to a statement from the Josephine Police Department.
Officers On Sunday evening, they responded to a report of a shooting at a home on the 700 block of Mallard Street. Inside, they found the bodies of Lacey Moore and her husband.
Family members say that the couple had four children whose lives would change dramatically.
“She loved children … hers, yours, mine, all of them,” said Carrie McMaster, who became friends with Moore after they became neighbors.
She said she couldn’t talk to her for more than five minutes without laughing.
“She was so funny. She just made everyone laugh wherever she went,” McMaster said.
Moore, she said, returned to the school to continue teaching.
“That’s what she talked about. That’s what she loved. Her kids, their growth,” McMaster said. “She wanted them to succeed. That was her passion and you could tell.”
Many parents said Moore was their children’s favorite teacher. Wylie ISD said it is making counselors available not only to students, but also to their families and school staff.
“She touched the lives of everyone she came in contact with. It’s a loss for everyone,” McMaster said.
