ROTTERDAM, Netherlands — American forward Ricardo Pepi ended a 30-game scoreless streak for club and country that lasted nearly a year. scored his first goal for Groningen in Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Sparta Rotterdam in the Dutch Eredivisie.

Pepy got ahead of defender Adil Ouasar outside the 6-yard box and headed Isak Myatt’s cross to the left of goalkeeper Juri Schunderwaldt to make it 1-0 in the 61st minute.

Sparta got back to winning ways when Sven Meijnans scored in the 73rd minute and Vito van Krooy converted a penalty in the 90th after Mike te Werrick had fouled Tobias Lauritzen.
