Elon Musk has hinted that he may try to reconsider the price of his takeover on Twitter, saying the deal at a lower price is “not ruled out,” Bloomberg reported on Monday.

Musk reportedly made such comments while speaking at a summit hosted by Chamot Polychapita, Jason Kalakanis, David Sachs and David Friedberg for their All-In podcast.

Shares closed more than 8% as investors fear Musk will abandon the $ 44 billion social networking deal.

Shares of Twitter also wiped out all proceeds after Musk unveiled his investment in the company on April 4, thanks in part to a sell-off late last week. Musk said on Friday that the acquisition was “suspended” while he investigated the proportion of fake and spam accounts on the platform, which he believed Twitter had mistaken.

On Monday, Musk estimated that fake users make up at least 20% of all users, according to Bloomberg. At the same time, Twitter said that last quarter, accounts accounted for less than 5% of its daily active users, which can be monetized.
