(Reuters) – Memory chip maker Micron Technology said Thursday that it encourages its engineering staff and customers in Shenzhen and Shanghai to work from home as China’s coronavirus cases increase.
Operations in Xi’an, where the company has DRAM assembly and testing operations, are ongoing as the technology center does not currently have restrictive measures in place, the company said.
Separately, another U.S. chipmaker and supplier, Apple Inc ON Semiconductor, said Wednesday that its manufacturing facility in Shenzhen was closed from March 14 to 20.
China’s factories, including Foxconn, are choosing insulating bubbles to overcome COVID’s curbs and maintain production.
