Kate McKinnon said goodbye during the opening finale of the Saturday Night Live season.
McKinnon, who is reportedly leaving alongside fellow veteran actors Eddie Bryant, Pete Davidson and Kyle Mooney, has brought her character Miss Rafferty back to the show’s cold opening.
SNL first made a version of this sketch back in 2015, when Ryan Gosling hosted the show and became a known favorite of the crowd thanks to McKinnon’s ability to make other cast members break in and laugh on the air.
The sketch followed the usual formula of McKinnon, Cecily Strong and the presenter (this week was Natasha Lyon), who told about their experience of alien abduction to Pentagon officials, including Bryant.
The sketch ended with Pentagon officials telling the three that they needed a man to travel with them in exchange for the secrets of alien technology.
Miss Rafferty of McKinnon immediately offered to go and showed up to say goodbye to the show and planet Earth.
“Well, earth, I love you, thank you for allowing me to stay for a while … live from New York, tonight, Saturday,” McKinnon finished, as if suffocating.
