Hurricane Ian dominated the news cycles for most of the week. After forming and eventually leaving Cuba without power after hitting the island, the Category 4 storm became one of the strongest to ever hit the U.S.

As of this writing Friday morning, the storm had killed at least six people in Florida and was moving north toward Charleston, South Carolina.

For historical context, we’ll look at how the storm evolved over the course of the week.

By Tuesday morning, Ian had strengthened to a Category 3. By the afternoon, fears were growing that the storm would continue to strengthen. More than a million people in Cuba were left without electricity.

On Wednesday morning, winds in Iain reached 155 mph, and the region around Tampa, Florida was bracing for a direct hit. By mid-afternoon, the storm had reached Florida, and more than 2.5 million people were ordered to evacuate.
