A three-hundred-and-fifty-million-dollar steel border wall bought and paid for by U.S. taxpayers is being spent in McAllen, Texas, under the supervision of taxpayer-funded security guards. If this sounds illegal, then it is because it is so. We saw this with our own eyes earlier this month during a Congressional visit to the U.S.-Mexico border.
Under President Donald Trump, Congress in a bipartisan manner approved funding for hundreds of miles of border wall construction. Materials were purchased, contracts were signed, construction began. In direct violation of the Confiscation Control Act of 1974, President Biden illegally froze $ 1.4 billion in taxpayer project funding on his first day in office, repealing the will of Congress for his own political gain.
By unilaterally canceling this construction, President Biden challenged the American people and effectively disarmed the border patrol agents who had been promised this vital tool for securing the southern border. So far, hundreds of kilometers of the border wall have remained unfinished, as a record number of illegal immigrants flowed into the country.
This is a gross abuse of executive power and is paid for by taxpayers. Biden’s border crisis tab has tens of billions.
BIDEN’S BORDER CRISIS IS ONE OF THE “WORST HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN THE WORLD”
Last month, there were 239,416 illegal border crossings, which was the highest figure of all time. Each of these migrants is given a health check, three meals a day, a hot shower, shelter, a mobile phone or other tracking device. They are then sent, at the expense of the federal government, to the interior of the United States, without any consequences for breaking the law.
This administration runs a free Costco for illegal immigrants, demanding that working-class citizens drive to the store for $ 5 a gallon of gas in the hope that they will find food for their baby. Border guards who are tasked with stacking these shelves need a baby formula for their children, but they have been categorically told not to take it home. The message is clear – under President Biden, illegal immigrants have a greater right to taxpayer dollars than the taxpayers themselves.
The Biden administration further emphasized this point when it published its budget for fiscal year 2023. In the president’s budget, “climate” is mentioned more than 180 times, and “border security” is zero times. He also calls for a reduction in domestic security by $ 800 million, but seeks to end border policy in section 42. Our brave border guards are already working around the clock to handle a record number of illegals.
When we visited a reprocessing facility in the Rio Grande Valley sector, where an average of 10,000 meetings a week take place, an emotional border patrol agent said: “I am standing in front of an open fire hydrant with a bucket. I don’t need more buckets; I need you to turn off the tap. “
Biden’s budget will not only take away these buckets, but also turn the faucet into a fire hose.
Under section 42, border services can send about half of the illegal immigrants they encounter home. Unfortunately, the other half is being released in the United States. If Section 42 ended, 100 percent of these illegal immigrants would be released within the United States. We cannot allow this.

The only “winners” from Biden’s open border policy are cartels that generate more than $ 32 million a day from their human smuggling operations. During our visit we were shown colored bracelets taken from migrants detained by border guards. The cartels are forcing them to pay tens of thousands of dollars in exchange for these bracelets, which allegedly provide them with protection from kidnapping and extortion while traveling to the United States. Cartels also indirectly profit from human smuggling. Often cartels take large groups of migrants on the path of border guards. This provides a convenient distraction while cartels illegally smuggle drugs, such as fentanyl, into the U.S. unnoticed.

It’s time to put American taxpayers first and enforce the law. It starts with resuming the construction of the border wall, increasing funding for national security and restoring law and order.
