Disney’s Kareem Daniel is the fourth new director to join McDonald’s board this year.
The fast-food giant announced Monday that the more than 15-year Disney veteran has become the 15th member of its board, effective Oct. 1.
Daniel currently leads Disney’s media and entertainment distribution group, overseeing the growth of streaming services, television channels and theatrical distribution. He is considered the right-hand man of Disney CEO Bob Chapek.
Daniel previously held leadership roles in the company’s corporate strategy, Walt Disney Imagineering, and consumer products, gaming and publishing teams. He is a native of Chicago, home of McDonald’s headquarters.
McDonald’s said in August that longtime CEO Sheila Penrose was retiring, a decision that came after billionaire investor Carl Icahn tried to replace her through a proxy fight. At the same time, the company announced the appointment of three new members of the board of directors, who took their seats on Saturday.
