Every day the old, knocked down and broken engines of quarry trucks and compactors return to the factory to be inspected, disassembled and restored as new. The effort, which in 2021 required about 127 million pounds of recycling equipment, is part of the construction equipment giant’s push to achieve environmental goals and increase revenue from services, which, according to Caterpillar, could also give the company an edge over rivals.
