U.S. communications officials accuse Apple of violating federal labor laws at a World Trade Center store in New York City.

The CWA claimed in a statement about unfair work practices to the National Labor Council on Wednesday night that Apple questioned and monitored staff, restricted them from posting union leaflets and forced them to attend mandatory anti-union protests.

The indictment comes at a time when Apple employees at several stores across the country are taking steps to unite in a union, including at New York Central Station, Atlanta and Maryland. They are following a wave of union efforts at companies such as Amazon and Starbucks.

“Apple retailers across the country are demanding a voice in the workplace and at the table. Unfortunately, and contrary to stated values, Apple has responded as a typical American corporation with harsh tactics designed to intimidate and coerce employees,” he said in a release. , which reported on the application, CWA Deputy Director General Tim Dubnov.

Asked whether the union sought to represent Apple employees, a CWA spokesman said in a statement that the group “was in contact with Apple WTC employees.”

“At this time, our main focus is to support Apple retailers and ensure that their workers’ rights are not violated, so we filed several ULPs on their behalf,” the spokesman said.

The union filed a separate indictment Tuesday, accusing Apple of violating federal labor laws by holding meetings with the audience at its Cumberland Mall in Atlanta.

Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
