DAVID OSMAN: Well, we are in many ways becoming a third world in the way we work. And this was largely due to the belief that the government could solve the problem by spending our money. First of all, the government must take on the role. The FAA easily spreads criticism of airlines, but they did not monitor the cost of this money, which, incidentally, amounted to more than $ 54 billion. We have spent $ 29 billion in grants to airlines to support the payment of wages, despite the fact that we now have 28,000 fewer employees than in December 2019.

ASMAN: This is a great question… It went on to temporarily detain the workers there, but obviously many of them left and just said, “Damn, I’m leaving this job. I don’t need it. ” Perhaps some have retired. Who knows? $ 25 billion went to passengers directly where they spent the money. $ 4 billion went to freight operators. And then there were the $ 25 billion in loans and loan guarantees, and a lot of that was also used. So you say we spent up to $ 80 billion. It’s a crazy idea that government spending will cure the problem. This is not the case. It usually matters – we spent $ 200 billion on schools, remember K to 12 – to open them. And we spent $ 200 billion on three accounts for help from COVID. Where did this money go? We don’t know.
