According to HPD, the boy was crossing the street with his family as they walked to the store when the suspect hit him.
HOUSTON – A 6-year-old boy in southwest Houston was killed Saturday night when police said he was hit by what was believed to be a drunken driver.
HPD said the crash happened near a laundromat on Leawood Boulevard off Bissonnette Street. Police said the crash was reported at 5:54 p.m
According to HPD, the boy was with his family on their way to the store when the suspect hit him in the parking lot.
The Harris County District Attorney’s Office said the suspect has at least two DUI convictions.
“This little six-year-old boy didn’t even live. And this family will have to live with the actions of this defendant for the rest of their lives,” said Shawn Teare of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
Thierry said prosecutors have accepted a manslaughter charge in the case.
