SAN PEDRO, CA. – Two people were killed and at least five others were injured after a shooting Sunday at a Los Angeles auto show park.
The Los Angeles Police Department said the shooting happened around 3:50 p.m. in Peck Park in the San Pedro neighborhood of Los Angeles. The Los Angeles police said on Twitter it wasn’t an active shooter situation, but didn’t provide more information.
Los Angeles Police Captain Kelly Muniz said during a press conference that the victims were registered on the baseball diamond. Police have not identified the victims.
“The initial call had multiple shooting victims at the baseball diamond in Peck Park. As we speak here, this remains an active crime scene and we continue to clear the park of evidence and possible additional victims,” Muniz said. “We don’t know exactly how many shooters we have at this point.”
The Los Angeles Fire Department said the incident happened at or near a car dealership and that at least three people suffered gunshot wounds, two of them in critical condition. In all, seven people, four men and three women, were injured and taken to hospital, according to the fire department.
